Hamish Stedman - Salford PCT

For the last four months Scott M has worked with Salford PBC leads in the formation of a city wide commissioning consortium. His broad range of skills was fully utilised in a number of areas:-

1. Facilitating the PBC leads in the development of the consortium governance framework. In this he used both his experience of PBC in general but also experience of other consortia elsewhere, giving a skeleton on which to build our local organisational model and to avoid some of the pitfalls experienced by others.

2. Co presenting the consortium vision to a slightly apprehensive PCT executive board, such that the project was subsequently enthusiastically embraced.

3. Negotiating and working with Salford PCT and PBC leads in the development of the PCT governance framework in relation to the commissioning consortium

4. Successfully presenting the consortium framework to the City's GP community.

These processes were performed against a very tight timescale. Despite this and the healthy spectrum of enthusiasm/cynicism amongst the GP community, at the time of writing all bar one of the City's practices have agreed to amalgamate PBC budgets. In no little part were we aided by Scott's skills interpersonal skills in enabled everyone to retain their focus and enthusiasm. It will thus be unsurprising that we are continuing to work with Scott over the forthcoming year.
